CHIUSA GRANDE ORGANIC FARM
LAND
Chiusa Grande and its 60 hectares of vines is located in Nocciano (Pescara) in the heart of Abruzzo.
Surrounded by the Gran Sasso and Majella Mountains, the organic farm was founded in 1991 by the agronomist Franco D’Eusanio, who is now known as “Vinosofo” and “bio-innovator”, acknowledging his full embrace of the principles of organic wine production.
Our Values
ORGANIC
Wine production at Chiusa Grande respects the principles of the “Vinosophia”, Chiusa Grande’s philosophy of wine.
To uphold our traditions whilst researching new wine-making techniques, Chiusa Grande worked with local universities and research facilities (CNR) to create new wine labels such as In Petra (natural wine made in white stone containers from Pietranico, Pescara), Natura (three different wines made with the total absence of sulphites), Integro (organic sparkling wine made with the classic production method and an absence of sulphites) and D’eus (organic sparkling wine made with the classic production method using only native grapes from Abruzzo).
What is “Vinosophia”? “Vinosophia” means only using production techniques that are available in nature (organic production).
When our wines are made, three main production principles are taken into consideration: grape must hyper-oxygenation, very low use of sulphites and partial or full malolactic fermentation.
FACILITIES
Extended to cover an area of over 3000 square meters, the space dedicated to the production process (250sqm) occupies two buildings that include the bottling – both glass bottles and wineboxes – and the packaging lines, a laboratory for chemical and microbiological analyses, and the technical tasting area (75sqm).
PEOPLE
Working at Chiusa Grande means to be a part of the D’Eusanio family and sharing their values by respecting nature. All the employees are ambassadors of the company and this helps the D’Eusanio family to succeed in their mission.
